Suffocate

I’m not usually a poet. I don’t even know if I’d consider this a poem (maybe it’s free verse). It’s a little piece of indulgence, something I had to write to get it out of my head…

Suffocate

Some things can change you.

Take away pieces of you.

Just a little. Just enough.

Enough to soften your heart, make you a little kinder. A little more understanding.

It’s never like you think it’s going to be.

Wavy lines of colors fade.

Perceptions shift; change as you change.

Suffocating in the gray.
